Too many poor presentations are given. It is time to up your game!
Presentations are not only usually boring and largely a huge time suck, but they are much less effective in informing and creating consensus and buy-in.
Turn each presentation into a much more effective conversation.
In fact, don’t just talk about it, do it. Use this video in your next team meeting and show them how to turn a previously stale list of talking points into a worthwhile conversation.
One little tweak. That’s all it takes. It is something you didn’t see before but it was the result of someone outside your normal working day giving you one little tip that made you uber productive. And unless you get a new perspective, you will miss it.
One of the things I love most about my work is going to conferences. And when I do I get to step out of my normal world and into a new environment which throws off my normal thinking and ways of working (which is a good thing). There I am able to rethink what I do, how I do it, and improve myself.
The problem is that most people don’t have the time to do this very often. But it is a MUST for us. We need to be able to get a periodic new perspective or we will get stuck in the same way of working and, very often, in the same bad habits we have.
This VINJONES Discussion is about just that. If you don’t have a lot of time to step away, what can you do to bring in new perspectives?
Increase your team’s employee engagement by using the VINJONES Discussion videos.
A life without meetings. Realistic? No, but what about a life without unnecessary or drawn out meetings?
You bet.
Imagine, if you will, a meeting where people are struggling to stay awake. They are there in person, but not in spirit. This is the opposite of employee engagement. For many of you, it won’t be hard to imagine this meeting because you are about to go into it.
Let’s reclaim the precious time.
As part of the VINJONES Discussions, use this video at the start of your meeting to discuss – oddly enough – the validity of not only that meeting, but all other meetings.
Are they necessary?
What can make them more effective?
What is the purpose of that meeting next Tuesday?
Can the goal be accomplished in another way?
What meetings could we do without?
Which meeting is no longer relevant?
If you feel you are going to go into one of “those” meetings that will waste your time, do you have the power to skip it without retribution?
All you need to do is show this video at the beginning of your meeting and start the discussion. Give a chance for your team to open up and be honest. You will be amazed at what they come up with.
Weekly VINJONES Discussions get you, me, and your team, in one room to have a discussion. Here is the first of many weekly videos.
The weekly VINJONES Discussions series is a catalyst to higher employee engagement.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Pull up one of the VINJONES Discussion videos at the beginning of your team meeting.
Step 2: Watch.
Step 3: Discuss for 10-15 minutes.
It’s that easy. The short, quick, yet to the point videos are designed to be discussion starters where teams can open up, share their hidden thoughts, discover other’s geniusness, and co-create new, more effective ways of working.
This will be – hands down – the most productive 10-15 minutes of your day.
These will help bring to light the elephants in the room that need to be spoken, as well as uncover hidden roadblocks that, when addressed, will lead to higher productivity.
By discussing these topics with your team you will build trust, learn what works, and what doesn’t and realize that everyone just wants to do a great job.
Whether you are a manager, a project lead, or an employee on a team, start your meetings off right.
Having consulted with organizations of all shapes and sizes, I have learned what works and what does not. They want to increase employee engagement but their work and organizational habits make it difficult. And it isn’t just one thing or a few – it is many.
Rather than try to point them all out, it is best if a team discovers better ways of working together. I have found that targeted, open, honest team discussions more effectively help create an environment of employee engagement than any other method.
These videos allow an unbiased third party to start the discussion, enabling your team to grow through conversation.
Watch the series, choose one for your next meeting, and test it out. What you will discover will be amazing.
